Diablo III returns to Chinese servers

 Two years after the server shutdown, on April 16, the Chinese server of Diablo III officially announced its relaunch, kicking off a non-deletion technical test. The official statement confirmed that all player account data from before the server shutdown has been fully preserved, allowing players to experience the content of Season 34 during the test period. This season will feature content that was first introduced in Seasons 28 and 29, which the Chinese server missed out on, including the Ritual Altar and Enemy Illusion.



According to the announcement, this test will not include a pre-download option. The game client can be downloaded directly via the Battle.net client after the server goes live on April 16.


The official statement confirmed that all player account data from before the server shutdown has been fully preserved. Existing players with accounts can log in directly without needing to repurchase the game, and all player data will be retained. For players without accounts, the base game will be provided free of charge, allowing them to play the entire storyline of Diablo III's Chapters 1-4.


During the test period, certain commercial content will be temporarily disabled.


Additionally, all players who log in during this test period will receive the Xian Sai Bear and Gaki Lady's Wings for free (rewards will be distributed after the game's official launch).


It is reported that on January 23, 2023, Blizzard Games suspended services and closed servers in mainland China due to contractual issues. In April 2024, Blizzard and NetEase announced their reconciliation, with Blizzard's mainland China servers set to return to the market in summer 2024.


The games currently returning to the mainland China servers include Hearthstone, World of Warcraft, Overwatch, and Diablo III.
