With a Volvo 2.0T engine, multi-layer soundproofing, 8AT+254Ps, and a price tag of 120,000 yuan, why doesn't anyone understand?
Everyone says luxury cars are expensive, with high maintenance costs and costly repairs and servicing. However, when some products offer strong performance and lower price points, many people still dismiss them. Such cases are very common in the domestic automotive market. People prioritize brand prestige over the product's inherent qualities, much like the Jaguar. Everyone knows that the material costs for this vehicle are extremely high, even surpassing those of BMW and Mercedes-Benz. However, even when the price is reduced to over 150,000 yuan, it still struggles to gain consumer approval. What a pity for such a fine all-aluminum vehicle!
Meanwhile, among our domestic brands, there are also affordable models with luxury car heritage. These vehicles feature cutting-edge technology from luxury cars and are built to the same high standards as luxury vehicles. However, such models still fail to gain consumer recognition, and the Lynk & Co 01 is one of them. Its Volvo heritage is exceptionally pure, with engine technology and driving quality very similar to Volvo's. Additionally, this model has undergone significant upgrades in recent years, particularly in terms of intelligent features and comfort, aiming to match luxury cars. Unfortunately, the Lynk & Co 01 has struggled to adapt to the market, with terminal sales dropping to over 120,000 units, yet it still struggles to achieve good sales figures. Last month, it sold only 407 units. So why does a model with such strong product capabilities fail to gain consumer recognition?
In my opinion, the most obvious reason is the cost of owning the vehicle. After all, the fuel consumption of the Lynk & Co 01 is relatively high, typically around 12L per 100 kilometers in urban driving conditions, and it requires 95-octane gasoline. This makes it difficult for many families to afford the vehicle. However, there is no alternative, as the Lynk & Co 01 is positioned as a performance SUV. After all, it is equipped with a Volvo 2.0T engine that delivers a maximum power output of 254 horsepower, with a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 6.8 seconds, which is on par with the Audi Q5L 45TFSI version. So, the downside of high horsepower is high fuel consumption. The consumer group that can afford a vehicle in the 100,000 yuan price range isn't exactly well-off, so it's tough for them to afford this car.
However, if we disregard the cost of owning a vehicle, the Lynk & Co 01 offers exceptional driving dynamics. After all, it is built on the CMA modular platform co-developed by Geely and Volvo, with a chassis tuned for a sporty driving experience and excellent lateral support. The suspension effectively filters out road bumps with excellent resilience while providing clear road feedback. Paired with the 8-speed automatic transmission, power delivery is very direct, and some models even feature an all-wheel-drive system, which is quite rare in this price range. Therefore, the Lynk & Co 01 excels in terms of sportiness and handling.
Secondly, the design of the Lynk & Co 01 is too aggressive. The blacked-out grille and frog-eye daytime running lights above it give it a very distinctive look. Combined with the sporty body kit, the overall impression is very young and sporty. However, young people have mixed opinions about this design. A significant number of people find the design unattractive, but the vehicle is packed with sporty elements, including five-spoke wheels reminiscent of the Audi Q5L and a贯穿式点阵状尾灯 design. Luxury and sportiness are always present.
In addition to these features, the Lynk & Co 01 has several other notable advantages. For instance, its interior boasts an irregularly shaped center console design, adorned with a variety of materials such as suede, glossy paint, and metal. The bucket-style sport seats, combined with multi-color ambient lighting, create a distinctly youthful and dynamic atmosphere. The cabin is further enhanced by a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster and a 15.4-inch central touchscreen. and the high-end model also features a HUD head-up display, exuding a strong sense of technology. It is equipped with an 8155 infotainment chip, supporting intelligent voice control, smartphone connectivity, and remote control functions. Additionally, the entire lineup comes standard with the LYNK CO-Pilot intelligent driving assistance system, offering advanced features such as automatic lane-changing assistance, active braking, and forward traffic crossing warning/braking, demonstrating a very high level of intelligence.
Despite its compact body length of just 4.54 meters, this vehicle boasts an impressive wheelbase of 2.73 meters, resulting in a surprisingly spacious interior. All models are equipped with a large panoramic sunroof, and extensive soundproofing measures, combined with multi-layer sound-insulating glass in the front seats, ensure a level of quietness rivaling that of a library. The seats feature heating and ventilation functions, and the vehicle is equipped with a high-quality 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, delivering an exceptional auditory experience.
Overall, the Lynk & Co 01 is a highly capable vehicle, designed as a high-performance model that offers exceptional driving pleasure for young enthusiasts who enjoy driving. However, this also results in relatively high ownership costs. While the initial purchase price is affordable, maintaining the vehicle can be challenging. If fuel efficiency is not a concern, the Lynk & Co 01 is undoubtedly a cost-effective choice. What are your thoughts on this vehicle? Feel free to share your opinions in the comments section below.
